The Barretts
Barrett Family Session | Doylestown, PA Family Photography
There are some families you get to photograph once, and then there are the ones you get to come back to year after year—and the Barrett family has been one of those for me.
This session in Doylestown felt like picking up right where we left off. The boys have grown (a lot), their personalities are even more their own now, and this year came with a few new additions—dogs, chickens, and all the energy that comes with them. It’s the kind of session where things don’t stay still for long, but that’s part of what makes it so good.
What I love most about photographing families over time is getting to see the subtle shifts—the way kids settle into themselves, the way dynamics change, the way everything becomes a little more familiar and a little more lived-in. There’s less pressure, more trust, and a rhythm that just naturally falls into place.
This gallery, especially, feels really grounded in that. The movement, the play, the in-between moments—but also the portraits. I really love the portraits from this session. There’s something about the way everyone showed up that day—relaxed, fully themselves—that made those quieter frames land just as strongly as the more candid ones.
Sessions like this are always a reminder that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. It just has to be real.
Most of my family photography work takes place in and around Doylestown, PA and throughout Bucks County, where sessions are built to feel easy and flexible—whether that means running around outside, including the family pets, or letting kids take the lead for a bit. It’s always less about creating a perfect image and more about documenting what already exists.
If you’re looking for a family photographer in Doylestown, PA or the surrounding Bucks County area, these sessions are designed to grow with you over time—just like this one.
