STEP 1: Scope out Locations!

Locking in an elopement location can be challenging, but not to worry. Pennsylvania is home to some incredible sites for adventurous couples. Here are few of my dream elopement formats:

  1. Glamping at Blue Mountain Resort in the Poconos.

  2. Autumn Hiking & Summit Ceremony at Pine Creek Gorge in the Tioga Stage Forest

  3. Camp Dietrich on Bear Creek in Jim Thorpe

#1: YOU CAN GET MARRIED IN PA WITHOUT AN OFFICIANT

By “Self-Uniting”

Being an elopement photographer in Pennsylvania is extra cool, because eloping in Pennsylvania is extra cool. Of course you can use an officiant to get married if that is your preference, but in PA, you have another option. In Pennsylvania, you are allowed to practice “self-uniting,” which, simply put, means you don’t need an officiant to get married - just two witnesses. My wife and I took advantage of this ourselves and I have to say it is a really cool and empowering way to kick off a marriage. Your county website will have specific guidelines for how to complete the proper paperwork, so start there - they will guide you through the process of applying for your marriage license. When you apply for your license, simply indicate that you wish to apply for a “self-uniting license". Once approved, this is good to go in any PA county.

#1 You can find absolutely show-stopping, jaw-dropping, once-in-a-lifetime locations for your elopement without leaving Pennsylvania. Let me help you get started.

TIP #2: Scope out Locations!

Locking in an elopement location can be challenging, but not to worry. Pennsylvania is home to some incredible sites for adventurous couples. Here are some approaches to consider:

  1. PA is home to incredible state parks with some stellar views & landscapes. I would strongly recommend working with your elopement photographer - they can help you locate ceremony and photoshoot sites. I personally am a big fan of the 1 night hike & camp, 1 night 4 star hotel combo. Especially if you are in Eastern PA.
