The Casbars
Cape Cod Family Session | The Casbar Family in Wellfleet
There’s something about a hot summer day on Cape Cod that makes everything feel a little more relaxed, a little more open—and this session with the Casbar family was exactly that.
They’re a Doylestown family, but we met up during their vacation in Wellfleet, which always brings a different kind of energy to a session. No real agenda, nowhere else to be—just time together.
It was one of those really hot days, so the rhythm of the session naturally shifted toward the water. The boys were in almost immediately, wading in up to their knees, running back and forth between the shoreline and the sand, fully in it. Their dog kept pace the whole time, weaving in and out, adding to the chaos in the best way.
We didn’t try to pull things back or structure it too much. It worked better to just follow along—letting the movement, the heat, and the setting shape everything. That’s where the best moments showed up anyway.
The tones in this session lean into that bright, classic summer palette—sun-washed sand, soft blues, and skin warmed by the heat of the day. There’s a looseness to the images that comes from shooting in that kind of light—nothing overly polished, just honest and a little windblown. The movement carries most of the story here, but the quieter frames still hold onto that same feeling—sunlight, water, and everything slightly in motion.
This gallery feels like a pretty classic Cape Cod summer—sun high in the sky, saltwater, sandy feet, kids half-soaked and completely unbothered. A mix of play and connection that doesn’t need much direction to come through.
I photograph families both in Doylestown, PA and seasonally on Cape Cod, and there’s always something special about getting to meet families in both places—home and away. Sessions like this tend to land somewhere in between: familiar, but a little more free.
If you’re planning a Cape Cod trip and want to document your time in a way that actually reflects it—movement, mess, and all—I’d love to be there for it.
